At Fraxinea we believe in working with nature, and explore all the wisdom it has to offer us. At the same time we harvest it's power and turn it into something special in a way that doesn't destroy, rather builds our future.

We believe nature has the answers to our problems, we just have to listen to it. That is why we choose mushrooms as our companions through our journey.

Our story

2018-2020

First experiments with mushroom materials

The first experiments were done by pure curiosity, by one of Fraxinea's founder, Gergő. From a hobby, mushrooms led him to work with a bio-material startup in London.

After he moved back to Hungary he put most of his energy into creating a scalable process, to grow mushroom based fabrics. His findings are the base of Fraxineas unique IP and production method.

2020

First mushroom leather sheets

After years of experimenting Gergő was joined by Emese.
They began to build up together something valuable, that they both believe in with their heart.

At this point 'Fraxinea' did't exist in the form that we now as today, but something started to grow out.

Still in experimenting phase, exploring the possibilities mushrooms can provide.

2023

Mome Incubation and Shark Tank

At this point 'Fraxinea' is the name of our beloved project.

The first mushroom leather sheets were created in a way, that can be replicated over and over again with the same results.

This gave us the confidence to step out, and we participated in the Moholy-Nagy University of Art's Incubation Program, which led us to great possibilities and challenges. One of which is the Hungarian Shark Tank.

2024

Launching the company

Fraxinea's Team enriched with a member, Robi.
With a new method to grow mushroom based, textile like materials, we participated in the STRT Incubation program, and started to map out the road that lies ahead of us.

We launched our firs project with the help of Brancs, a crowd founding platform.

We are still at the beginning of our journey, but with a clear goal ahead of us, to help the environment thrive and to introduce all the amazing possibilities we can achive, through collaborating with nature to everyone.
